Buford Family,
I pray that you are doing well in the midst of everything that is going on around us. If there was ever a time that I really wish we could be together, it is during this time. With COVID-19 and all the unrest we are encountering in our country, being isolated is not healthy for our souls. If you need me or the church, do not hesitate to reach out.
I do want to give you an update on the church. As many of you know, we resumed our in-person worship on June 28th. We had excellent precautions in place with physical distancing, mask being worn, doors opened for people and hand sanitizing for all. You can get a glimpse of what worship was like from the picture.
However, with the growing number of cases in Gwinnett County, I’ve made the decision to suspend in-person worship for the month of July. The staff is in agreement with this decision. We will continue to monitor what is going on around us and give you updates how it affects us.
This does not mean that everything is being suspended. Our children and youth have some outside activities planned and encouraged to do so safely as we are learning that outside is safer than inside. Our Sack Kids Hunger and Rip n Roll Ministries will continue to meet. We are encouraging all groups to take extra precautions so all will be safe. While the office is open, we do ask that anyone who comes to the church to please wear a mask. If you do not have one, we will have one for you as you enter the church. If you are involved in one of our ministry groups, masks and gloves should be worn at all times along with physical distancing. This applies to the groups doing ministry inside or out. We need to remember that we are ministering to some of the most vulnerable demographics in our community so we need to do all we can to safely minister.
Finally, I want to encourage you to let us know if you develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19. I know that some may feel embarrassed but the church is here to support you during this time. If involved in a ministry area, it is very important that we know so we can contact others who were also involved. This is how we care for one another.
We are called to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”. That has not changed and we will continue to make disciples through online methods as well as some creative ways to share with each other. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are in need, feeling lonely, or need anything. I, along with our staff, are here for you. Take care, wash hands, keep physical distance, and please WEAR A MASK.
In His Grace,
