Summer Sizzlers
Each summer, the Children’s Ministry at Buford First plans several outings where children and their parents can explore some of the fun places and cool events in our community.
In 2011, we had an amazing time with great turn-outs for our Summer Sizzlers. Take a look below at some of the fun stuff we did and thanks again for supporting Summer Sizzlers 2011. Be sure to check back in 2012 to see what’s in store for the children of Buford First UMC!
- Swimming and Picnic at Van Pugh Park
Wednesday, July 13th, 2011, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free for families with children at BFUMC fifth grade and younger. Each car is charged a nominal entrance fee to enter park (http://www.lakelanier.com/directory/parks/van-pugh-park/view-details/).
- Movies at Mall of Georgia’s Regal Cinemas
Wednesday, July 20th, 2011, 9:30 am (movie begins at 10:00 am, with lunch in the Food Court afterwards)
$1.00 admission fee to see either Madagascar 2 or Ramona and Beezus. Plan to meet outside of the ticket office at 9:30 am (www.regmovies.com, Summer Movie Special).
- INK (Interactive Neighborhood Kids) Museum in Gainesville
Wednesday, July 27th, 2011, 10:00 am
Bring a packed lunch to enjoy at the museum. Cost is $6 per person, and it may be $1 less if we have a group of 20 or more, including adults (www.inkfun.org). Plan to meet at the museum or contact Heather White if you’d like to arrange carpooling.
Please remember that every child must have an adult present to participate. Participation is for children ages 3 to 5th grade. Come and join the fun!
Children’s Work Area/Programming Meeting
There will be a Children’s Work Area/Programming meeting on Sunday, July 24th, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. This meeting will address current concerns with Children’s Ministry, areas of need, volunteering with Children’s Ministry (including Sunshine Church, Sunday School, Children’s Church, IMPACT, Wednesday night programming -NEW in September-, and Work Areas for Children). All parents of children in our church, as well as all people who are interested in working with this vital and important ministry, are asked to attend. Childcare will be provided for children under 4 if we have a need (please let Heather know if you will need childcare ahead of time so it can be arranged).
