Music Ministry

menu-music“‘O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!” Psalms 95:1-2

At Buford First, we recognize that music is an essential part of our church and of our worship services. Through this ministry, people of all ages and abilities serve joyfully in our many music ensembles.

Whether you’re interested in choirs, handbells and chimes, or drama and worship arts, there is a place for you here. Our rehearsals are fun and challenging, provide fellowship with other church members, and are firmly grounded in Christian faith.

Come and see for yourself! For more information, contact Mark Ridings, our Director of Music and the Arts, at

Chancel Choir

ChancelChoir-350x253The Chancel Choir is the foundation of our music ministry. This choir shares music weekly during our worship services and also performs at other church activities and community events throughout the year. All styles of music are used to bring honor and glory to God. A Lessons and Carols service and Holy Week presentation are typical highlights of our year.

Singers from the Chancel Choir also form two smaller ensembles. The Ladies’ Ensemble and Men’s Vocal Ensemble both sing monthly at the 8:45 service.

Rehearsals for the Chancel Choir are Wednesday evenings (year round), 7:00 to 8:30 pm. New members are always welcome, so please join us if you’re interested! For more information, please contact Mark Ridings

G.L.O.W. Children’s Choir

GLOW-350x194The G.L.O.W. (God Lights Our World) Children’s Choir is made up of three groups:
    1. Angelus Choir: 3-4 year olds
    2. Cherub Choir: K-2nd graders
    3. Junior Choir: 3rd-5th graders

The three G.L.O.W. Children’s Choirs will occasionally sing at our worship services and are very important to our worship experience at Buford First. The core values of our “Growing in Grace” curriculum are faith, worship, music education, ministry, and Jesus is Lord. We also make sure that the children learn and experience how much fun music ministry can be.

Family Choir

The Family Choir sings twice a month at the 8:45 service. They gather at 8:15 on the second and fourth Sunday mornings of each month to learn the anthem for that day. Their repertoire consists primarily of old-fashioned hymns from the United Methodist and Cokesbury Hymnals.

This group is for ANYONE from the very young to the young at heart! All voices are welcome. Whether you already sing in the choir and would like a chance to sit with your kids/spouse during worship or if you’re looking for someone to sit with, the Family Choir would love to have you. And, if you attend the 8:45 service but have always wanted to sing in church, here’s your chance to bring the whole family!
