Global Missions

Central Conference Pension Initiative (CCPI)

The Central Conference Pension Initiative (CCPI) is a long-term solution that provides retirement financial security for dedicated church leaders and surviving spouses who would otherwise have little or nothing.  Our church has pledged to raise $10,000 over the next several years.

Bahamas Mission Trip

In the Summer of 2010, many of the adults and youth at Buford First took a mission trip to the Bahamas to work in an AIDS Camp to help build and repair homes for its residents.  This mission made such an impression on all that went, that plans are underway to try and make a return mission trip to the Bahamas in 2012.

Compassion International

The Student Ministries of Buford First support a young girl in Africa through Compassion International.  Each month, we collect $8 from five middle or high schools students willing to donate and send it to the young girl.

The Herrins

Buford First helps to support a missionary family, the Herrins, who serve in Monterrey, Mexico.  Jon Herrin teaches at the seminary there and encourages pastors and leaders of the church.  His wife teaches in a private school and all three of their children are involved in ministry with their peers.

UMCOR

Whenever there is a natural disaster, we give through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).  We also give to UMCOR every year through our Alternative Christmas Project.
