At Buford First, we have a number of adult ministries. Along with our Music Ministry, we also have several other ministries including Adult Christian Education, United Methodist Men’s and Women’s groups, a Young at Heart group for adults and seniors over 50 years old, and several Interest Groups. Each of these ministries is explained below, along with a section that explains several of our annual events.

Adult Christian Education

“Then Jesus said … if you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples.” John 8:31

There’s no reason to travel alone in your faith. At Buford First, we want you to find a place to grow in your faith and offer many classes and other fellowship groups to help you on this journey.

If you need help in finding the right class or group, please use any of the contact information throughout this page or contact the church office at 770-945-7438 or

Adult Sunday School Classes

Buford First’s Adult Sunday School classes are available for anyone that seeks to learn more about strengthening their relationship with Christ. All classes begin at 10:00 am every Sunday morning and are open to anyone that would like to join.
For a complete list of classes, please contact the church office at

Disciple Classes

Disciple Classes are an excellent way to grow your faith in Christ through fellowship with other Christians. At Buford First, we offer classes that aim at transformation, not just information. Our Disciple Classes are a form of disciplined Bible Study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders through transformation, not just information. The classes focus on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group for study, prayer, preparation, support, and servanthood.

Are you hungering for the Word of God? Disciple Classes can help transform you into a biblically nourished person that nurtures and encourages others to live as disciples of Christ.

Buford United Methodist Men (BUMM)

The Buford First United Methodist Men (or, BUMMs for short) is an open membership service organization sponsored by Buford First United Methodist Church in Buford, GA. The only requirement for being a part of this group is that you are male and want to participate in fellowship and service in our community and beyond. Every male member of the church is a member, and countless non-members participate and contribute their own time, talent, and gifts.

Historically, the BUMM focus has been on supporting local, national, and even international mission needs, as well as fellowship activities such as dinners, outings, and fundraising events.

Being a “BUMM” means many things:

  • BUMM serves as a service and fellowship organization within the framework of the United Methodist Church. In addition to supporting the mission of the church, BUMM seeks to provide physical assistance and financial support to a variety of mission and ministry related activities.
  • BUMM works to provide service to those in need – both in the Buford area and beyond.
  • BUMM seeks to provide opportunities for support, fellowship, and practical applications of faith in career and family situations.

For more information, you can email Chris Simonson at (and be sure to ask that you be included on our email list to stay up to date on everything that’s happening with the Men’s Ministry).

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. — Article 3 of the UMW Constitution.

All that is required is a willingness to work your muscles a little, laugh a lot, and enjoy fellowship with your sisters in Christ. For specifics on times we plan to meet or if you have any other questions, please contact the church office at
