The United Methodist Women (UMW) … Our Purpose
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

BFUMC Women Circle Groups
The BFUMC United Methodist Women have three “circle” groups that are always open to membership to women of BFUMC. The groups each meet once a month at the Benson House (the building that faces Hill Street and is located behind the main church building).
Each group of women has their own unique ministry and fellowship to offer. For more information, please stop by one of our circle meetings, contact one of our circle leaders or members, or contact the church office at 770-945-7438 or clbfumc@bellsouth.net.

Buford First UMW Missions
Along with the many missions that each circle group calls their own, all UMW members contribute to and support the missions listed below throughout the year:
- Adopt Buford-area families at Christmas
- Appalachia Service Project
- Buford community suppers
- Buford Thrift Shoppe
- Children’s Choir Camp
- Church and Benson House improvements
- Church Chrismon Tree
- Eagle Ranch for Boys
- Gifts to World Missions for new babies
- Good Samaritan Fund
- Gwinnett Battered Women’s Shelter
- Gwinnett Children’s Shelter (This includes the work of the Effie Wood Circle and the ladies from the other circles that make blankets that are given to each incoming child as a source of comfort and warmth)
- Historic St. George UMC, Philadelphia
- Holiday Baskets for the church’s homebound members
- Kroger commitment cards
- Monthly Mission (including homeless offering, Wesley Woods offering, Appalachia Service Project, blood drives, UM Children’s Home, food drive, missionary support, and Alternative Christmas)
